Adili, the ethical and sustainable fashion, beauty and home products retailer, relaunched its site today.
Established in 2006, Adili stocks brands such as People Tree, Karen Cole, Patagonia, Howies, Edun and Terra Plana. For the relaunch, new brands have been introduced and product ranges expanded.
The labels sold through Adili have succeeded in overturning the notion that sustainable and ethical fashion means an unglamorous, ugly, hair-shirt approach.
Style-wise, womenswear looks chic and sophisticated. Perfect for the party season.
For men, it can be hard to find items that step up from casual/sports wear to something smarter for the office or a special occasion. But this seems to be an issue for ethical and sustainable fashion in general, not just Adili.
The site has been overhauled under the hood as well. Wishlists and better search and browsing options generally make for a more user-friendly shopping experience.
Each item is clearly described and pictured. Tabs show general info, ethics, details and delivery options.
There are a few kinks though. Browsing through the men’s shirt categories (’casual shirts’, ’smart shirts’, and ’shirts’) was not particularly intuitive, and a touch eccentric.
Sizing charts weren’t very helpful (unlike the old site, which tended to give sizing descriptions for individual items). They sometimes seemed mixed up between mens and womenswear. Freepost returns should be helpful.
We’ll put these issues down to teething problems. Overall the new site is smoother and easier to navigate, whilst having more product information.
And, in case you’re wondering, Adili is Swahili for ‘ethical and just’.
